The Utility Billing Department is located at City Hall 522 1st Avenue. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding major holidays.

Utility bills are mailed approximately the first week of each month. Electricity, natural gas and water are metered services and are billed as consumed. Residential sewer and stormwater are generally flat rates and are charged monthly in advance. Sewer flat rates are determined as follows: Single (one person); Family (two or more); Vacant (unoccupied for more than 1/2 month).

Deposits are required on all new electric and gas accounts. Electric deposits are $50; gas deposits are $75; to be made before moving into a residence. Both are returned on your utility bill after 12 months with interest. If you move outside city limits before the 12 month period, the deposits will be applied against your final bill and you will receive a check for any remaining credit.

Payments for utilities are due by 4:30 p.m. on the last business day of each month. Any payments received after this time are considered late and subject to a 5% penalty.

The City offers a Budget Payment Plan which begins April 1st of each year. We also offer an Automatic Withdrawal payment option which is deducted from your bank account each month. The City also accepts most major credit cards for utility payments.

The City's policy on Disconnection of utilities for non-payment begins April 15th of each year. If an account is 31 days delinquent, you will receive notice. For the months of October through March, the City follows the Minnesota Cold Weather Rule on disconnections.
